Anabolic Steroids

September 10, 2007-- The Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) has put out a Model Rule for the regulation of Anabolic Steroids in Indiana.  Comments and questions were asked to be submitted to the IHRC by September 7, 2007 in regards to the proposed rule.  The Indiana Horsemen's Coalition (Indiana Standardbred Association, Horsemen's Benevolent Protective Association, Indiana Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association and Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana, Inc.) compiled a researched position and submitted it to the IHRC.  On September 27, 2007, at 10 a.m., the Indiana Horse Racing Commission will be having a meeting with this topic up for discussion.  Three guest speakers have been asked to speak on the behalf of the horsemen during this meeting; Dr. Steven Barker from Louisiana State University, Dr. Thomas Tobin from the University of Kentucky, and Mr. Kent Stirling Chairman of the National HBPA Medication Committee and board member of the RMTC.
