Commonly Asked Questions with Answers

What does this mean?

The House Bill No. 1835 must be received by the House Senate no later than Wednesday, February 28, 2007.  The House Senate then has until Wednesday, April 11, 2007 to have finished the 3rd readings of all House Bills.  This DOES NOT mean that they will take that long for our bill to be heard.  At this time we do not know when the bill will be heard.  We will keep you updated on this website as soon as we are notified of any further information.

What happens if HB 1835 reaches the 3rd reading from the Senate?

After the 3rd reading in front of the House Senate the Senators from each district will then vote on whether or not they want to pass the bill.  If House Bill No. 1835 passes the House Senate then the bill will be directed to Governor Mitch Daniels for his final approval.  His final approval is the final step for the bill to be written into Indiana Law.  (click on the Governor's name to see his own State website)

What do I do now to help?

Now is the time to start contacting your District Senator!  We need to contact them just like you contacted your District House Representative.  The bill cannot move forward to be established into law until we get the Senate Floor to approve the bill.  Also you can start contacting Gov. Mitch Daniels and share with him how important HB No. 1835 is to you!
