First career win for Broadway Tempo

Earlier this week, the Indiana Standardbred Association (ISA) Elite races were held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Several horses on the program earned new lifetime marks, including Broadway Tempo, who earned his first career win in the quickest of two divisions for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings.
Beginning from post two, Broadway Tempo came out of the gate ready to roll and was on the lead on the inside for trainer-driver Doug Rideout in the first few strides of the race. They were soon passed up by Skyway Storm and Clint Coy before the quarter in :29.3. The third leader of the race was Justformoney and Michael Detweiler who swooped around the field to land the top spot.
Once Justformoney was settled, Broadway Tempo was back out and traveling with authority to the lead spot, taking over after the half in :58.4. From there, Broadway Tempo was in full command heading around the final turn by open lengths.
In the stretch, Broadway Tempo was still in full flight, trotting home in :28.4 to win by five and one-quarter lengths. Brookview Holiday and Kevin Detweiler closed in the lane to finish second over Justformoney.
Broadway Tempo is owned by Julie Rideout, Dr. Alan White, Chris Gilbert, and Matthew Burton. The freshman son of Temporal Hanover earned his first career victory in his seventh career start. Mark Graber bred and raised the gelding who sold under Silver Stone Farm’s consignment last fall at the Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale, purchased by Dr. White for $30,000. He is the first foal from the Broadway Hall mare Broadway Maija, who took a mark of 156.3 and earned $118,000 during her racing career.
In the other division of freshman trotting colts and geldings, Yankee Dan and LeWayne Miller used a second half move forward that brought them to the finish line as five and three-quarter length winners in 1:58.2. Hidden Talent and Clint Coy finished second over Sup Dog and Robert Taylor for third.
Yankee Dan is owned and trained by Greg Runyon. The Dover Dan gelding was bred and raised by Willie Schwartz. It was his second career win in 11 starts and a new lifetime mark for Yankee Dan in a time of 1:58.2. He is a half brother to the standout trotter Yanks Dugout, a winner in 1:51.2 with more than $700,000 on his card and still racing.
