What Each Committee Does

Each ISA committee is assigned specific responsibilities designed to help the association operate effectively, represent horsemen and strengthen Standardbred racing throughout Indiana.

Member Benefits

Backside Healthcare / Emergency Benefits

Review Emergency Medical Relief requests.
Report committee recommendations for approval or denial to the Board.
Oversee clinic and chiropractor needs and scheduling at Hoosier Park.
Oversee dental and optical benefits.
Keep membership, staff and the Board informed of important changes and problems.

Facilities

Backside Improvements

Coordinate with track personnel regarding potential and ongoing capital improvements and track progress.
Inform the Board of progress as well as any problems.

Industry Development

Breeders / Owners / Sales

Reach out to breeders with important dates related to ISS and ISFC eligibility.
Provide owners with current racing schedules and changes in procedure.
Work with sales companies to promote the Indiana Standardbred product.

Financial Oversight

Budget / Finance

Review purse account activity.
Report trends related to live handle, simulcasting, signal sales and TVG.
Report quarterly on actual income and expenses.
Work with the Association Accountant to provide timely reports and filings.
Work with the ISA Accounts Manager to submit the Application for Recognition.

Education

College Assistance

Review College Assistance applications and determine eligibility and the amount of assistance.

Industry Relations

Commission Relations

Keep lines of communication open with the IHRC, including track and office personnel.

Fair Circuit

Fair Racing

Represent horsemen at fair venues.
Work with the Standardbred Advisory Board and Breed Development on matters related to county fair racing.
Assist fair officials when required.

Community Support

Grants

Review grant applications.
Make recommendations to the Board based on application merit.
Communicate with applicants.
Conduct physical reviews to verify grant compliance.

Membership & Promotions

Membership / Promotions / Social Media

Address membership concerns.
Promote communication with ISA membership.
Actively seek to increase ISA membership.
Coordinate Sire Stakes dinners and the Awards Banquet.
Develop and manage an annual calendar of promotional and educational racing events.
Coordinate promotional events with Hoosier Park.
Select promotional items.
Assist other industry organizations with activities.
Manage social media content and coordinate content with the Publications Committee.

Racing Operations

Pari-Mutuel

Coordinate with the Horsemen's Representative, judges and race secretaries.
Work with track officials on paddock, blood gas and Lasix scheduling issues.
Work with the track maintenance crew regarding the racing surface.

Communications

Publications / Website

Manage content and publication of the ISA Magazine and Stallion Directory.
Oversee ISA website content and updates.
Assist with magazine proofreading and suggest content.
Coordinate website content with the Social Media Committee.
