Indiana pacer scores series win in 1:48.3

Door Dash and Yannick Gingras delivered another powerful performance Sunday, August 30 in the third round of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series for three-year-old colts and geldings. The Indiana bred missed the first round and finished second in the second round before coming back and securing a new lifetime mark in the third leg of the series at The Red Mile.

Starting from post six, Door Dash raced out of the gate for the early lead and was met with opposition, keeping him hung wide heading into the first turn. Door Dash had to work for it but finally got to the lead just before the quarter in :26.4 ahead of Louaville and Scott Zeron followed by Show Me Your Ace and Dexter Dunn. Door Dash kept up the pace to the half in :53.4 as he led the field into the final turn. Fletchers Field and Josert Fonseca moved to the outside to try and advance but wasn’t making up much ground as the field reached the top of the stretch.

Louaville had the best shot to catch Door Dash, but he could not close the gap as Door Dash paced home in :26.4 to score the victory by one and three-quarter lengths in 1:48.3. Louaville was a solid second with Winnercircleseeker and Tim Tetrick rounding out the trifecta.

Door Dash paid $3.24 as the favorite of the field. The sophomore son of Rockin Image is owned by Trent Stohler Stable, and Ben and Tim Graber. Trent Stohler trains the home bred who is out of the partnership’s mare Metro Shopping, a winner in 1:51 with more than $200,000 on her card.

Door Dash has now won five of 11 starts this season. The Indiana Sires Stakes contender had only two starts last year at two without any success. He now has more than $100,000 on his card this season to go along with his new lifetime mark taken Sunday.

Another Indiana sired son of Rockin Image was a winner Sunday at The Red Mile as Rockin Pulse and Marvin Luna followed cover through the final stages of the race, taking over and traveling home for the win by two and three-quarter lengths in 1:51.0. Fellow Indiana sired pacer Isitlikeittell and Josh Sutton finished second over Rockabilly Rebel N and Todd McCarthy.

Rockin Pulse paid $12.52 for the win. He is owned by Mary Van Boven of Michigan and trained by Jim Eaton. He was bred and raised by Rockstar Meadows and now has 18 career wins with nearly $150,000 in earnings. The seven-year-old gelding also earned a new lifetime mark in the race to add to his credentials.
