Indiana trotter earns new lifetime mark

Inverness Ave and driver Tim Tetrick chose the right path to victory Monday, August 31 in the third leg of the $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth Series at The Red Mile. The duo got the best of his opponents in a three-way photo for the win in 1:51.0.
Inverness Ave began from post six and was not intimidated by the top notch opponents in the race. The Indiana sired trotter rallied out for the lead and was met with opposition from Neighver Punt and Dexter Dunn along with Onemorenkickmeout and Atlee Bender. Inverness Ave continued to pursue the top spot and was comfortably in position at the quarter in :28.0.
Before the half in :55.1, Untouchable AS and Tony Hall were out and driving to the lead, becoming the third leader of the race before the final turn arrived. Just after he took over, Neighver Punt was flushed out and began to close the gap on the outside, leaving Inverness Ave with no racing room on the inside.
In the stretch, Inverness Ave chose to move up the inside, which saved him ground but also got him by Untouchable AS. Neighver Punt was still close on the outside as the trio of trotters came closer to the wire. In the end, Inverness Ave was the winner by a neck over Untouchable AS. Neighver Punt finished third by open lengths on the remainder of the field.
Inverness Ave earned his fifth win of 2026 for owners Ted Engel, Doug Shore, and the Ernest Gaskin Stables, all of Indiana. Ernie Gaskin trains the Helpisontheway sophomore, who paid $9.36 for the win. Amanda Gaskin served as the groom for the gelding and met him and Tetrick in the winner’s circle following the win.
Inverness Ave is from the fourth foal of Helpisontheway. He was a $20,000 purchase from the Lexington Select Sale. He has a two-year-old sister by Captain Corey who has already taken a mark of 1:56.1 and made $17,000. Inverness Ave now has more than $182,000 collected in earnings. His win Monday at The Red Mile was a new lifetime mark for his connections. A total of 14 of his 17 starts this year at three have been on the board. He finished second in the first round of the Commonwealth and was a winner in Sires Stakes action in his start prior to Monday’s win.
