Freshman filly gets new career mark

The greatness of former Horse of the Year and Hall of Fame inductee Shartin N just keeps on going. She has passed down her speed and toughness to her foals including Kountry Legacy, who dropped her career best time down even further Sunday, September 6 in the fourth round of the $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series at the Red Mile.
Kountry Legacy began from post one but when the gate folded, nearly every horse left the starting gate with speed. Goodwalkspoiled and Kyle Husted were the first to cross over tio the lead with Sweet As Silk and Chris Page pursuing the leader on the outside of Kountry Legacy, who was not giving an inch on the inside in the two hole. At the quarter in :27.3, it was evident Sweet as Silk would not be able to make it to the lead and backed off, getting in the three hole behind Kountry Legacy.
At the half, horses were out and moving once again with Banana Beach and Josert Fonseca leading the way first over. They passed up Kountry Legacy, who had a big hold on Trace Tetrick past the half in :56.1. The tempo was pretty even around the final turn and as Banana Beach began to back off, horses were fanned out all the way across the track behind her as the stretch arrived.
Kountry Legacy was able to squeeze out and get positioning. Once she was clear, she hit another gear and rallied down the stretch in :26.2 for the win by two lengths in 1:51.1, a new career best. JK Simcha and Marvin Luna finished second just a neck ahead of Seaside Ubeaut and Dexter Dunn.
Kountry Legacy paid $7.10 for the win. The Capt Midnight filly is owned by Pollack Racing and Jeff Cullipher. Cullipher was trackside to greet Kountry Legacy and Tetrick as the filly headed to the winner’s circle along with Dot and Charlie Morgan, who were in the winner’s circle photo. Ola Yoder of Kountry Standardbreds bred and raised the filly, who is now four for seven in her career with more than $142,000 in earnings. She has only been worse than second once in her career, showing her consistency. She sold early in the sale last fall at the Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale for $35,000 to Tom Pollack as a dual eligible filly to both Indiana and Kentucky.
Another Indiana winner on the Sunday card at The Red Mile was Seeitsayit from the Joe Putnam Stable. The four-year-old Tellitlikeitis gelding made it to the lead after the quarter in :27.0 for driver Joey Putnam and never looked back, increasing his margin to four and three-quarter lengths at the wire in 1:50.0. Yankee B Something and Geremy Bobbitt finished second over Handsome Stranger and Dexter Dunn for third.
Seeitsayit paid $9.12 for the win. He is owned, trained and was bred by Joe Putnam.
It was the fourth win of 2026 for Seeitsayit and his eighth overall. His career best time of 1:49.3 was taken last summer at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. His dam, Tiene’s Leche was a great race mare for Putnam, earning 31 wins and nearly $200,000 in earnings before retiring after her nine-year-old season to become a brood mare. In addition to Seeitsayit, she has produced Tellitlikesonny, a winner in 1:53.3 with six figures in earnings and has a three-year-old on the track this year named Call Me Lator. She has a yearling filly this year that has not raced yet named Midnight Leche and a weanling filly by Rockin Image named Image of Tiene.
