Farm offering 24 yearlings in MSHS

As the State of Indiana prepares for Hoosier Champions Night Friday, October 9, several farms are putting the final touches on the next crop of stars for next year’s Hoosier Champions Night. Several of the horses carrying the Pond-A-Acres farm name are included in the Friday night lineup and several have siblings in this year’s lineup for the Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale.
Pond-A-Acres will offer 24 yearlings at next week’s Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale (MSHS). The very last entry in the consignment will garner a lot of attention as Ponda Wahoo steps into the sales ring. The son of JK Endofanera is the second foal from Ernie Gaskin’s tough race mare Tellitsassymae, who earned more than $230,000 with a mark of 1:50.1. She is also a half sister to Gaskin’s tough Jammin Joshua, a winner in 1:49.3 and $650,000 and now a stallion in the state of Indiana. Tellitsassymae has one foal of racing age, a two-year-old this year that races and was timed in 1:56.4 named Ponda Jesko. Ponda Wahoo sells late in the sale as Hip No. 406.
In the early part of the sale, Pond-A-Acres sends Ponda Bird through the ring. The daughter of Temporal Hanover is the first foal from the Greenshoe mare Youhadmeathalo, who earned a mark of 1:53 during her career. She is a half sister to the great Will Take Charge, a winner in 1:50.3 with more than $1.1 million in earnings and former Canadian Older Trotting Horse/Gelding of the Year in 2018. Ponda Bird is both eligible to Indiana and Kentucky. She sells as Hip No. 23 on Thursday, October 15 at the MSHS.
One of the hottest trotting prospects in the sale will be Hip No. 263 Ponda Holcim. The Temporal Hanover filly is the latest foal from Magic Lindy, who is the dam of Flagman, Rick Plano’s standout older trotter. Flagman has a mark of 1:50.4 with more than $825,000 in earnings and counting. He has drawn post three in the very first race on Hoosier Champions Night, a field of older trotters that includes Ponda Jet, current trotting track record holder.
Pond-A-Acres can be found at the MSHS in Aisles 27 and 28 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Yearlings are also showcased on the Harrah’s Hoosier Park live racing broadcast with videos of the yearlings being offered at MSHS.
