A Blue Million turns win into green at Dover
A Blue Million turned in a strong performance and provided his backers with a lot of green Tuesday, March 17 at Dover Downs. Guided by Montrell Teague, the Indiana trotter scored an upset in the featured $25,000 Open Handicap.
Starting from post one gave A Blue Million an opportunity to save ground out of the gate. He had a little speed but it wasn’t as much as Duly Resolved and Corey Callahan and Fruit Snacker and driver Tony Morgan. Duly Resolved claimed the top spot with Fruit Snacker finally crossing over to the lead after the quarter in :27.4. Last Glow and Jack Parker Jr. were hung on the outside and Parker went to work on Last Glow to get him to the top and final take over at the half in :55.3. This left Benjamin Hanover and Tim Tetrick then hung on the outside down the backstretch the second time.
A lot was going on as Duly Resolved was not advancing as quickly as the trailing horses wanted. Benjamin Hanover flipped three wide, which gave A Blue Million the opportunity to move up the inside after being shuffled back to sixth. In the final turn, Last Glow was still leading the way with Fruit Snacker setting on his outside before he went off stride. Morgan had to chase him forward before he could get clear of horses and get him to the outside. All this time, A Blue Million was right in position for the attack behind Last Glow.
As soon as the open stretch arrived, A Blue Million moved up the inside and was able to trot home in :28.4 for the win by one length over Last Glow. Duly Resolved finished third in the 1:54.1 mile.
A Blue Million paid $34.00 for the win. The five-year-old son of Swan in a Million is still owned in Indiana by Stephen Stoll and Nathan Yoder. The home bred was bred and raised by Roman Stoll. Tim Crissman trains the gelding, who has five wins in eight starts for 2026. Overall, he has won 20 races with earnings of more than $220,000. He took his career mark of 1:53.1 in his previous win at Dover.
A Blue Million started off on the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit under the direction of Leander Schwartz. After racing in Ohio last year, he moved into the Crissman barn and has won seven races since the transfer. His win in the Open at Dover was his third in that class already this year.

Earlier in the night, Indiana trotter Apple Fritter and Russell Foster were winners in the $12,500 claiming trot. The duo posted a gate to wire effort, fending off a late charge by Jack N Abs and Tim Tetrick to win by a head at the wire in 1:57.4. Swans Cash Prise and Vince Copeland made it two Indiana sired trotters in the top three.
