Always at Harry’s is always tough and he proved just how durable he can be Wednesday, September 15 to win the $7,000 conditioned claiming trot at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. The Indiana trotter surged by his competitors for the upset win in a time of 1:55.3 with driver Travis Seekman calling the shots.
Always at Harry’s began from the second tier in post 10 and could only get away in third through a lot of traffic at the start. By the time the outer horses got into place, Always at Harry’s was shuffled back to fifth as Helptheneedy and LeWayne Miller took over the lead from Streaking Six and Darrell Wright at the quarter in :27.2. Helptheneedy went on and Streaking Six went with him, but the rest of the field was gapping. Instructor Bob and Brandon Bates were out before the half, which eventually flushed Always at Harry’s to the outside. Once he was outside, he was ready to roll and surged up to take over the top spot around the final turn.
In the lane, Always At Harry’s was full of trot. Instructor Bob went with him down the stretch but could not catch him. Always at Harry’s was a winner by three and three-quarter lengths with a final quarter trotted in :27.3. Instructor Bob was an easy second with Spielberg and Anthony Miller closing in for third.
Always at Harry’s paid $31.40 for the win. The sophomore son of Dover Dan is owned by Finn Racing LLC and Tami Michl. J.D. Finn trains the gelding, who is a product of Karl Miller’s breeding operation. He sold under the consignment of In Law Stables with the name Always Isbi as the third horse in the Midwest Classic Mixed Sale in the yearling section for $15,500. The Finn Stable acquired him earlier this year. His dam, Always Be With You, took a mark of 1:54 and made more than $161,000 during her career. Always at Harry’s is her first foal and her two-year-old, Jay Are, is currently racing and is already a winner on the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit. She has a yearling gelding this year, a full brother to Always at Harry’s, named Creeping Charlie.
Another winner on the night that paid double digits was in the first race as Lucky Jade and Kyle Wilfong scored a gate to wire win in the conditioned pace, with an optional claiming tag. Lucky Jade fended off late challenges late in the lane for the win by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.0, a final quarter in :27.1. Class Factor and Kevin Lambright finished second over Albany Blue Chip and John DeLong for third.
Lucky Jade paid $10.40 for the win, his third of the year. The Luck Be Withyou ridgling is owned by Earnest Sork, Nori Nessa, and Shawn Nessa. Ken Rucker trains the sophomore, who earned a new lifetime mark in his win Wednesday.
