Bryson Swan and Mike Peterson earned their second career win as the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit Second Series headed south to Corydon’s Harrison County Fairgrounds Saturday, September 19 for a full 17-race program. Two-year-olds were on the track first with Bryson Swan a winner in one of three divisions for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings.
Bryson Swan was ready when the gate folded and attempted to go to the lead, but horses to his inside had the same idea. Pilotterror and Doug Rideout used their post one start to their advantage and grabbed the first lead with Stealth Pilot and Michael Detweiler left on the outside heading into the first turn. Bryson Swan was three wide before backing off and getting a seat in third as the field moved into the first turn. Piloterror passed by the quarter in :33.4 before Stealth Pilot took over, adding additional lengths between him and the rest of the field around the second turn.
Peterson moved Bryson Swan around Piloterror and when the field emerged out of the trees on the far turn, he was closing the gap on Stealth Pilot at the half in 1:06.2. Heading down the backstretch for the second time, Coerced and Mike Hollenback moved out which prompted Bryson Swan to also move out to challenge. He had already cleared the front before heading into the final turn.
When the field came down the stretch, Bryson Swan was in full command, winning by two lengths over Coerced for second. Stealth Pilot finished third.
Bryson Swan is owned and trained by Peterson. He purchased the Swan for All colt from last fall’s Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale from Luckiana Farm for $14,000. He started off at Harrah’s Hoosier Park this summer and then converted over to action for the second series of the ISFC, picking up his second win on the series. His win in 2:08.3 Saturday at the Harrison County Fairgrounds was a new lifetime mark for the freshman.
Earlier in the day Big on Artist turned in the quickest mile among two-year-old pacers. Guided by Don Eash, the Tellitlikeitis colt went gate to wire for the win, holding off a late charge by SF Flight and DeShawn Horton for second in the 2:02.0 mile. Vel Crow and Clint Coy finished third.
Big on Artist is owned by Eash Racing Stable and trained by Eash. Lavon Miller and John McGill bred and raised the colt. Eash purchased the colt from the Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale in the final session last year for $32,000 from the In-Law Stables consignment. It was the third win for Big on Artist, who has been competing on the ISFC all summer. His previous best time was recorded in the earlier session at Corydon in 2:04, so he dropped his career best time by two seconds with the latest Saturday win.
The ISFC Second Series moves to the Newton County Fairgrounds in Kentland next Saturday for the next stop. The final for the second series is set for Saturday, October 10 at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in Frankfort.
