Kaks the Boss takes on leadership role in qualifiers

Kaks the Boss made her 2026 debut during the final qualifying program of February Saturday at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Atlee Bender guided the four-year-old former Indiana Sires Stakes contender to an impressive win in 1:55.1, turning in a final panel in :26.0.

Kaks the Boss was in no hurry at the start as Whole Lotta Luck and Brad Ferguson moved out to lead the field through the quarter in :28.2 and half in :58.2. Kaks the Boss followed along in sixth and bided her time before tipping to the outside to advance.

As the field moved into the stretch, Kaks the Boss was on the outside and advancing. She paced home in a flash, picking up the win by one length at the wire over Whole Lotta Luck. Sugar and Spite and Kyle Wilfong held their ground inside for third.

Kaks the Boss, a daughter of JK Endofanera, is owned by Pollack Racing and Jeff Cullipher. The partnership purchased her out of the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale for $50,000 from the Victory Hill Farm consignment under the name JK’s Girl. She is the second foal from a mare who has deep roots in stakes action. The third dam is the granddam of Coach Stefanos and the fourth dam is the mother of the great Well Said, Three-Year-Old Pacing Colt/Gelding of the year in 2009 and successful sire after earning more than $2.5 million on the track.

Kaks the Boss took her career best time of 1:52.2 and has earnings of more than $146,000 to begin her four-year-old campaign. She has a half-sister, Girl Boss Rocks, who is a three-year-old in 2026.

Later on in the qualifying program, old timer Peter Dalt was back on the track with a gate to wire effort. Driven by Kyle Wilfong, the 10-year-old son of Rockin Image scored his qualifier in 1:56.1, three-quarters of a length ahead of Covert and Kevin Lambright. Rockin Dawg and Jacob Schwartz finished third.

Peter Dalt is owned by Tosha Huffman and trained by Payton Ode. He has been with Ode since last summer. Overall, he has 19 wins and more than $230,000 in earnings with a career best time of 1:51.1 taken as a five-year-old at Pompano Park. He is the first foal from the Village Jolt mare Love You Always, who earned a mark of 1:52.1 and more than $168,000 during her career. She has also produced PBR Street Gang (1:51.3, $158,000) and has been a solid brood mare for Blue Bird Meadows. She has a two-year-old filly named Bluebird Forever by Capt Midnight who will be on the track this year as well as a yearling colt by Loubet named Bluebird You Bet. All of her foals of racing age have raced.
