Six Sticks of Gum opened up the Saturday racing program at Harrah’s Hoosier Park with another win. The claimer earned his 13th win of 2026 which ranks him in fourth place in North America for wins among all pacers in 2026.
Starting from post eight, Six Sticks of Gum and Marcus Miller made their way to almost the back of the pack, only besting On Time Ted and Kevin Lambright as American Classic and Kyle Wilfong went the other direction, taking over the top spot before the quarter in :25.4. Go Pikachu Go and Atlee Bender were stuck on the outside but just rode along as American Classic continued to lead the way through the half in :53.2.
Six Sticks of Gum finally knew it was time to move and was out behind cover with On Time Ted following him out as well. In the stretch, Six Sticks of Gum took off, pacing home in :26.4 for the win in 1:49.4. On Time Ted finished second just a length and three-quarters back. On Time Ted was just a neck ahead of Go Pikachu Go for third.
Six Sticks of Gum paid $7.20 for the win. The four-year-old son of Check Six is owned by Perry Smith. Dee Smith trains. It was the second mile under the 1:50 time barrier this month. Earlier in August, he took his career best time of 1:49.2, becoming only the second foal of Check Six to take a mark under the 1:50 time barrier, joining Ponda Executive for that honor. Six Sticks of Gum is now ranked sixth on the list of top earning foals for Check Six. He was bred and raised by Marty and Mary Rheinheimer.
Six Sticks of Gum has exchanged hands quite often this year in the claiming ranks, acquired by Smith in his last start August 15 for $30,000, now stepping up to $40,000 as a winner for his new connections. His dam, Good Gum Gertie, is a half sister to the great Freaky Feet Pete and took a mark of 1:53.1 before becoming a brood mare. Six Sticks of Gum was her last foal and is now the richest and the quickest from four foals.
In the very next race, new owners from Final Third Stable who are part owners on two-year-old trotting colt Royal Rebuff, got their first win picture as the freshman rolled to victory in 1:58.3 in the $16,000 Indiana Sires Stakes Eligible event. John DeLong guided the colt to a six and three-quarter length victory in the mile. Swan Flarida and Jay Cross finished second over Flying Fozzie and Doug Rideout.
Royal Rebuff paid $8.80 for the win. He is also owned by Ernie Gaskin Stables and Doug Shore in addition to the members from Final Third Stable. Raymond Raber bred the colt.
