Treasure G took her young career to the next level Monday, April 20 with his first pari-mutuel win at Oak Grove. Driver Brandon Bates guided the Indiana sophomore to victory in the $12,000 maiden to earn her first win of 2026.
Treasure G began from post three and floated out of the gate and secured a spot in mid pack as Keep on Stepping and Terry Skinner rallied out to the first lead before the quarter in :27.3 with Dancin After Dark and Zyler Maxwell parked on the outside. Dancin After Dark moved onto the lead. It wasn’t long before the front end changed again as Coverupthetracks and Atlee Bender moved out and around to take over before the half in :55.4 with everyone staying along the inside rail behind him. Treasure G was gapping by many lengths off the top contenders in the first half.
As the field approached the three-quarters, horses from the back of the pack moved out and began to move forward. Treasure G had closed the gap and was waiting for the right time to move out. As soon as Keep on Stepping moved out, so did Treasure G. Coming out of the final turn, horses were four across the track with Treasure G the widest of all. She hit another gear in the stretch and paced home in :28.4 to score the win by three-quarters of a length. Dancin After Dark finished second over Keep on Stepping.
Treasure G paid $12.52 for the win. The three-year-old filly of Capt Midnight is owned by breeder Carla Bride and trained by Leslie Burton. It was the first time Bates had driven the filly, who began her career on the Kentucky Fair Circuit last season, winning one of those races.
Treasure G was making her third start of 2026. She is the first and only foal from the Popperosa mare Air’Eez, who also raced for Bride and Burton. She has yet to race in Indiana as she is dual eligible to both Kentucky and Indiana.
