The entire harness racing world will be watching Woodbine Saturday, June 6 for the eliminations of the Pepsi North America Cup. One of the eliminations places two powerhouse sophomores together that many have hoped to see. Odds on Mr Mamba and Beau Jangles will meet for the first time in their careers in the second elimination of the event slated as race nine on the Woodbine/Mohawk card.
Odds on Mr Mamba has drawn post four in the eight horse lineup with Beau Jangles beginning from post seven. Odds on Mr Mamba goes into the race off a win in the first round of Indiana Sires Stakes action at Harrah’s Hoosier Park. Beau Jangles comes into the elimination a perfect three for three in 2026 and an astounding 15 for 15 lifetime after going undefeated last year at two. He has never left Canada and his career best was in 1:48.3 last year at Woodbine. Overall, the Dan Patch and Obrien Horse of the Year has more than $1.3 million on his card. Bob MClure will be in the driver’s seat as he faces off with world champion Odds on Mr Mamba.
Driven by Dexter Dunn, Odds on Mr Mamba has only passed by the winner’s circle once in his career. After beginning his racing career in mid July, he finished fourth in the first round of Indiana Sires Stakes. That was the only defeat of his career as he went on to establish a world record of 1:47.4 during Indiana Sires Stakes action last October. Odds on Mr Mamba makes his first start outside the state of Indiana in the North America Cup elimination for trainer Melanie Wrenn and Odds on Racing.
The matchup will be the premier racing event of the season thus far. Two powerhouses testing their skills on a night filled with stakes races.
Another horse who has Indiana ties is part of the Fan Hanover eliminations. Topville Lucky, who carries the Indiana farm name with her, has drawn post two in the first elimination of the race. Driven by Dexter Dunn, the Sweet Lou filly was bred and raised by Jeremy Yoder of Topeka, Ind. and was sold at Harrisburg for $27,000. She began in the Erv Miller barn and qualified at Harrah’s Hoosier Park last July before heading out on the stakes service. She has since been sold and now races for the Andrew Harris Stable. She was six for seven last year as a two-year-old and makes her second start of 2026 in the Fan Hanover elimination, bringing her best mark of 1:49.1 with her, taken last year at The Red Mile.
Another Indiana horse on the Saturday card at Woodbine is Soaring Now, who has drawn post eight in the $40,000 Open Pace. The JK Endofanera six-year-old gelding has four wins this season while racing at Woodbine. Louis Roy drives the gelding, who is working on $700,000 in career earnings.
Racing from Woodbine/Mohawk begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The North America Cup Elimination featuring Odds On Mr Mamba and Beau Jangles has an estimated post time of 10 p.m. Out of the 16 entered in the eliminations, the top five finishers from each elimination return for the $1 million final set for Saturday, June 13. The event is a Grade 1 race and will be in its 43rd running this year.
