Another Tim Smith trotter excelling on the ISFC

It appears owner-trainer-driver Tim Smith has another standout trotting filly. Fresh off the heels of success with Fresh Face Yankee last season, Princess Draven turned in the fastest mile among all two-year-old trotters Thursday, June 4 during the second session of the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit (ISFC) at Converse. A total of 20 races were on the card with the first 13 dedicated to freshman trotters.
Starting from post three, Princess Draven shot out of the gate and took over the top spot before the first turn and led the way to the quarter in :32.4 and half in 1:04.4. Heading to the three quarters, Let’em Gocrazy and Clint Coy had been waiting patiently in the two hole and moved out to challenge but became rough gaited in the final turn, opening up room for Margot Go Go and Doug Rideout to advance on the leader.
However, Princess Draven was too strong. She continued to turn in an even rated mile and trotted home in :30.1 for the win by three lengths in 2:05.1, the fastest mile of the day for freshman trotters. Sweep Chick and Kevin Detweiler moved up for second over Margot Go Go for third.
Princess Draven is a two-year-old daughter of Don’t Let’Em. She was bred by Vernon Wittmer and was purchased by Smith for $9,000 from the Silver Session of the Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale last fall from the Wittmer Standardbreds consignment. She is the first foal from the Cantab Hall mare Draven Hanover, who took a mark of 1:58.2 with earnings of $84,000.
Smith’s three-year-old filly, Fresh Face Yankee, is currently four for four in 2026 while racing on the pari-mutuel ranks. Her latest win was in the first round of Indiana Sires Stakes with Jay Cross handling the driving and training duties.
The card also provided a look at the first crop of a few new sires, including Temporal Hanover. In the very first race, three of his foals took the top three spots with Sassytemper and Kevin Detweile getting the edge by a neck over Satin Serenade and Derek Hooley. The Simple Life and LeWayne Miller finished third.
Sassytemper is owned and trained by Joseph Wagler. Gary Miller bred the filly, who sold from the Double R Farm consignment at the Midwest Standardbred Horse Sale last fall. Wagler purchased the filly for $6,000.
Second place finisher Satin Serenade is the latest foal from the Hooley barn’s tough race mare Satin Dancer, a winner of more than $730,000. The Simple Life is a homebred for Lyndar Stables.
The quickest mile so far in the Indiana Sired Fair Circuit was recorded in the very first division of three-year-old filly pacers as Rita’s Girl and Kevin Detweiler earned the win in 1:56.4. The Highalator filly turned in a gate to wire effort for the win by three and one-quarter lengths with Chantilly Russ and Don Eash finishing second. Promiss Me Therock and AJ Wright finished third.
Rita’s Girl is owned by Ernest Wagler and trained by Joseph Wagler. It was her first win of 2026 and her third overall. The mile was also a new lifetime mark for the filly, who competed on the ISFC last year.
The ISFC is back in action next week at Converse. Two sessions will again be held Wednesday, June 10 and Thursday, June 11. The circuit then travels to Harrah’s Hoosier Park for a four-day stretch June 16 – 19, intertwined with the evening pari-mutuel racing programs.
